WHO AM I?

Have you ever asked yourself, “Who am I?”. For me, I am 23 years old, female, student, named Tsoi Wing. But in fact, My name was called by my parents because I was their daughter. 23 years old is my current age, but 10 years later or 20 years later is already a past tense. Same with the ages, now I am a student, but after 10 years, I might be a mother taking care of my baby. Everything that I think of myself, but the facts are all dependent on other things to rule out, then what is left? It is this identity of women. But how do you find yourself from women?

The topic of the self has long been salient in feminist philosophy. Feminism is a political ideology of society that aims to advance the status of women. In feminism, many people think that feminists put women in the center too much, but the core of this social movement is to bring out true gender equality. “Women have always been caregivers in history, not self-caregivers.” This sentence was proposed by JR THORPE. Feminism has once again become controversial in recent years, but in fact, feminism had already appeared in the 19th century. Women’s right to vote, equal rights, and economic and reproductive freedom are all captured by women in the feminist movement. In today’s society, a society that seems to be balanced between men and women is full of things that women are being degraded.

Take the selfie as an example, will you take a selfie? When people all over the world take selfies, have you ever thought that self-portraits are a way to empower women? Giving women the right to take a selfie is the way women can choose to show up to the world, and the way they see themselves. In a global study into the phenomenon of taking selfies(called Selfiecity)has found that woman is significantly more likely to take photos of themselves than man. That means women are showing themselves to the world by taking selfies. At the same time, self-timer has become a kind of social activism called “selfie-feminism.” This is the term “sad girl theory” coined by Audrey Wollen in 2015. The main reason is that the sorrow of theoretical women should no longer be regarded as a weakness, liberating from the patriarchal culture and the existing stereotypes. The starting point of this theory is good, but people pay too much attention to the appearance of women and make events worse. In today’s society, although women accept the real face of women on social media, they are also bound by old ideas and give a positive impression on specific content. Women are still portrayed as Sven and Virtuous in modern society. When a woman with a boy’s character appears, people will comment on her variety and even give the name “tomboy.”
Similarly, the feminization of men is also known as “sissy.” People are very concerned about other people’s comments on themselves, and even find themselves in other people’s ideas. Feminism is not endlessly, giving women power. They are targeting the current phenomenon and believe that it is not just empowerment but equal rights. Don’t let some established predicates misunderstand the true meaning. Both men and women should understand feminism, not asking for support or opposition, but looking at controversial topics from multiple perspectives.

“The worst for lies within the self” from Parasite Eve. This means that if you ignore yourself, then others will ignore you. Your identity emerges through interactions with other people, also can create for yourself by yourself.
